W&S Asphalt Paving started in 1989 with one truck, one roller, and a simple promise: do the job right, every time. Gary Watkins founded the company in Seffner, Florida, and built it the old-fashioned way — one satisfied customer at a time.

Over the past 35 years, we've grown from a small residential operation to a full-service asphalt contractor handling everything from single-car driveways to 500-space commercial parking lots. What hasn't changed is our approach: show up on time, do quality work, keep our word on price, and leave the site cleaner than we found it.

Today, Gary and his nephew Tyler Watkins run the company day-to-day — and both are on the job site for every project. Gary founded W&S and has spent 35 years building its reputation one project at a time. Tyler grew up watching that work ethic and brings the same standard to every job he runs. When you hire W&S, you’re working directly with the owners — people who stake their personal name on every square foot of pavement they lay.

Florida’s climate puts asphalt through a punishing cycle: intense UV exposure, pavement surface temperatures exceeding 140°F in summer, and heavy subtropical rains that can undermine a poorly prepared base within a season. Over 35 years in the Tampa Bay market, we’ve learned exactly how to build pavement that performs in these conditions — proper mix design for Florida heat, base prep that handles our high water table and sandy soils, and drainage grading that sheds our intense storm rains rather than pooling against the sub-base.
